So, this didn’t turn out to be so peachy. 130 opt ins in a day aint so bad, but no sales? Almost 800 visitors? Somethings definately not matching up here. The visitors are taking my bribe and optin in, and they consume the content on the next page, but still…don’t buy?!

So, I’ve called this one a wrap. If you can solve this enigma, please post! Otherwise, at least in the muscle building niche, I’m going to have to call this one  a good way to build a list fast…but not the greatest way to make money fast, (but a fast way to lose it!).

I’m sure I could continue testing and changing my banner placements with different networks and such…But frankly, at this point I’m thinking it might take SEVERAL THOUSAND dollars up front to get it to click.

Now I will say this, it would definately be WORTH it. I mean if this started converting, it would be easy to get it up to $1,000 or more in profit per day given the volumes of traffic that are available ya know?

THE BIGGEST LESSON I’VE LEARNED FROM IT ALL

I think Super Affiliate’s best character traits are confidence,  patience, perserverance, and perhaps a bigger confidence that can be only described as “balls of steel.”

From the evidence I’ve seen so far, this is not a waste of time, and if I wanted to throw a few thousand dollars more into testing, I’d quite likely walk away with a campaign that made me very rich.

And that’s what this stuff takes. CONFIDENCE, that you’ll eventually turn it around if you stick with it, and test thoroughly.

PATIENCE, when your adspend is well into the 4 figures and you’ve not seen a return yet…

PESERVERANCE, to continue on against the set backs.

I’ve said this before, but you may or may not have heard of the guy who stopped digging just 8 inches short of one of America’s Largest gold deposits, and sold his mine.

The person who bought it struck rich!

Clearly this is what happens to most of us would be mult-millionaire affiliates. In order to make it work, we’ve gotta stick in there and MAKE IT WORK.

And if these are the only lessons gained from this 4 part case study, they are worth their weight in gold indeed.

Hope you enjoyed this series. Post your comments below, and let me know what you’d like to see tested next!

    Hi Brian,

Found this case study very interesting, as I am looking to try this out myself.

I’m as puzzled as you are about the no sales, but I would like to see you take this to completion. (Not that I want to see you lose any more money! LOL)

Many marketers use this model and make it work. Maybe try direct to offer. Maybe send follow up auto responders with the offers in the messages.

I think you’re readers (as I’m sure you would)would like to see this be a profitable campaign.

I appreciate you leaving your mistakes in, so we learn from that.

    Don’t give up! Keep going!

You speak about the lessons you’ve learned, but you’re not demonstrating that by your actions, you’re giving up. I know it’s smart to cut your losses and know when to quit – just think you haven’t finished this one yet.

Again, don’t want to see you Lose money, but take it to completion and make it work. Muscle building niche are spenders.

    Thanks for all your reviews.

    Howard

    P.S. To find exact optin % formula is: # optins / # visitors x 100

Yeah, you know what Howard, you’re right…

I was just sitting here thinking that after I made that post above, I had learned something really profound.

I now KNOW that those who take campaigns into the $1,000+ profit per day zone where we all want to be, are testing, testing, testing, testing, testing, testing, testing, testing, testing and testing.

I bet in some cases it would possibly take $5,000 with no return to strike your first sale. But when I think about it, wouldn’t it be worth that $5k, for a campaign that produced $1,000 a day? I mean seriously, 25 sales a day at $80 commission, would make room for $1,000 ad spend, and still provide $1,000 in profit. $1,000 Adspend with Adbrite would likely get me 5,000 visitors (give or take) at .20 cents a click.

Which means in order to hit $1,000 in profit per day, I’ve ONLY got to get it converting at 1/2 a %…, and then ramp up my traffic to $1,000 adspend each day.

    *Grinding the wheels of conversion*

This one likely aint finished yet. Thanks for the encouragement

thanks for the intereting case study
instead of trying to make this one product work, what about split testing the actual offers? once you find a winner or at least something that gets a sale, you can tweak to optimize….

Thats an interesting thought…I could use a different muscle building product, but I already know that this one converts like crazy because of the clickbank gravity, and it’s also got the highest pay out for affiliates at $80 a commission…

If it weren’t for the fact that I already know it’s selling like hot cakes, I’d change my offer. But because I know it is, I’ve just gotta find out how those affiliates are doing it.

    Hey Brian,

Could be the particular sites your advertising on. It could get very expensive to find the right one….and I’m sure some unscrupulous readers would pile on when you hit the vein of gold… :)

See if any of the 130 optins will buy from an email series…no cost.

    We’re rootin for you!
